Legend of Bhai Dooj festival
According to mythology, Surya had two children from the sangya. One of these sons was Yamraj and the other was the Yamuna. And because of not being able to bear the sangya sunfast. After constructing his shadow, he handed it over to his son and daughter and left from there. But Chhaya did not have any kind of attachment to Yama and Yamuna, but Yama and Yamuna had a lot of love.
Yamraj was not able to visit his sister Yamuna due to his busy work. And one day Yama went to meet his sister Yamuna to overcome his displeasure. And then the Yamuna became very happy to see her brother. The Yamuna prepared food for her brother and welcomed him with great respect. Seeing the love of sister Yamuna, Yamraj was so happy that he gave many gifts to the Yamuna.
Then Yama was pleased and gave him a boon that on this day if both brothers and sisters bathe together in the river Yamuna, they will get liberation. Because of this, bathing with brothers and sisters in the river Yamuna on this day is also of great importance. When Yama Sister started taking leave from the Yamuna, she asked him to ask for a boon according to her wish.
The Yamuna heard his request and said that if you want to give me a boon. So give this bridesmaid that you come here every year on this day and accept my hospitality. After this, every year on the third day of Diwali, the festival of Bhai Dooj festival is celebrated.
